Bear Stays Up For Christmas
大熊熬夜过圣诞

The day before Christmas, snuggled on his floor.
圣诞前夜，大熊正舒服地蜷缩在地上冬眠。
Bear sleeps soundly, with a great big snore.
他睡得太熟啦，还打着很大的呼噜声。
” Dear Bear, GET UP!” Mouse shouts in his ear.
“亲爱的大熊，起床啦！”小老鼠在他的耳边叫着。
” We won’t let you sleep through Christmas this year.”
“今年的圣诞节我们可不能让你就这样睡过去。”
His friends are all there, gathered in his lair…
大熊的朋友们都来到了洞里……
And the bear wakes up.
于是大熊醒来了。
He stands with a stretch and a great big sigh.
大熊站起来舒展了一下，打了个呵欠。
” I hope I can make it. I do want to try.”
“我也希望圣诞节不冬眠，我的确想试试的。”
” Don’t worry,” squeaks Mouse.
“别担心！”小老鼠叽叽喳喳地说。
Hare says, ” It’ s all right. We’ ll keep you busy all day and all night.”
兔子说，“没事儿。我们会让你整日整夜忙个不停的。”
He tries to lie down, but his friends all frown…
大熊又要躺下去了，朋友们可不乐意……
so the bear stays up.
于是大熊忍着不睡觉。
” Come on,” says Badger,
“来呀，”獾说，
” time to follow me. In Pine Grove Glen, there’ s a fine Christmas tree.”
“该跟我走啦。在派恩格罗夫小树林那儿有棵不错的圣诞树！”
So they stomp through the woods and they tromp down the track.
于是他们踏过树林，走过小道。
They hoist up the tree onto Bear’s big back.
他们拔出那棵圣诞树，抬到了大熊背上。
He plods very slow as they trudge through the snow.
大熊走得慢吞吞的，大伙儿都吃力地在雪地里跋涉。
But the bear stays up.
不过，大熊仍然醒着。
Back at the cave, Gopher brews mint tea,
终于回到洞里啦。地鼠泡了壶薄荷茶，
and Mole pops corn to string upon the tree.
鼹鼠爆了些爆米花。爆米花可以串起来挂在树上。
Raven and Wren bake a fresh fruitcake.
乌鸦和小鸟正在做着新鲜的水果蛋糕呢。
The friends do their best to keep Bear awake.
朋友们都努力地让大熊保持清醒。
His shoulders start to stoop and his eyelids droop.
大熊的肩膀弯下去拉，他的眼皮耷拉下去了。
But the bear stays up.
但是大熊还是醒着。
They hang up their stockings by warm firelight and hum Christmas songs like ” O Holy Night.”
大伙儿在温暖的火光边挂起了自己的袜子，哼着“圣善夜”这样的圣诞歌谣。
They cuddle and sing as they wait for the sun…
它们互相依偎着，哼着歌儿，期待着黎明的到来……
But soon all the voices fade to just one.
没过多久，就只剩一个声音了。
A bright star glows while his good friends doze…
远处的星星在闪耀，身边的朋友却进入了梦乡……
but the bear stays up!
但是大熊却还醒着呢！
Bear giggles and grins.
大熊咯咯地咧嘴笑了。
He works and he wraps. He bustles and bakes while everyone naps.
别人在睡觉，他却忙着包礼物、烤蛋糕。
He piles up presents under the tree.
他把礼物堆在树下。
But who’s at the doorway?
但是门口站的是谁呢？
Bear doesn’t see…
大熊没有注意到……
He toils all night until the sun rises, making his friends their Christmas surprises!
为了给朋友们准备圣诞惊喜，他忙了一晚上，直到天亮出太阳。
Just before dawn he lets out a yawn…but he still stays up.
就在黎明之前，他还打了个呵欠……但是，他仍然醒着呢。
When Christmas arrives, so lovely and white, Bear’ s friends awake to a glorious sight.
圣诞节终于来啦，醒来的朋友们发出了惊叹！洞里布置得如此光彩美丽。
Presents and goodies are piled up tall.
礼物和好吃的堆成了小山。
” I stayed up,” says Bear, ” just to share with you all.”
“我一直醒着，”大熊说，“就是想和你们分享快乐。”
As his friends shout with glee, Bear lies by the tree…but he still stays up.
大熊的朋友们高兴地叫着，大熊靠着圣诞树躺下了……但是，他还是醒着。
Wren flies to the stockings and tweets out a cheer.
小鸟飞到了袜子旁边，高兴得叽叽啾啾的。
” Besides our bear’ s presents, Santa was here!”
“除了大熊给我们的礼物，圣诞老人昨天也来啦！”
When all gifts are opened, there’ s one last surprise.
所有礼物都打开了，但还有最后一个惊喜哦。
Badger shows Bear a quilt just his size.
獾拿出了一床刚好适合大熊盖的新棉被。
Bear snuggles up tight and mutters, “Good night…”
大熊舒服地蜷成一团，咕哝地说到，“大家晚安……”
Then Bear falls asleep.
于是，大熊睡着啦。
His friends tidy up and slip from the lair.
他的朋友们整理好山洞，悄悄地走了出去。
They whisper, ” Sweet dreams. Merry Christmas, dear Bear.”
他们小声地说，“做个好梦。圣诞快乐，亲爱的大熊。”
